Recognising and Managing Shock at the Bedside

Program overview

Shock is treated too often as a single condition with a single response. This course teaches differentiation — hypovolaemic, cardiogenic, distributive and obstructive — because the treatment priorities diverge sharply and the wrong fluid decision causes harm. It covers the clinical signs at the bedside, the value and limits of common monitoring, fluid responsiveness assessment, vasoactive support principles, and the point at which escalation to critical care is required. Written for ward and emergency staff who must act before a critical care team arrives.
