This course covers insulin types and their time-action profiles, prescribing and administration safety including the abbreviation and device errors that cause tenfold overdoses, glucose monitoring and target ranges, recognition and treatment of hypoglycaemia, sick-day and perioperative adjustment, and the transitions where insulin regimens most often go wrong. It also covers oral and injectable non-insulin agents with an emphasis on the ones that cause avoidable admissions.
