Resuscitation Knowledge Update: Current Guidelines in Theory
The knowledge component of resuscitation, updated to current international guidance.

Program overview
International resuscitation guidance was revised in 2025 and much existing training material is now out of date. This course covers the knowledge component: recognition of arrest, the chain of survival, high-quality compression parameters, ventilation, defibrillation and safety, reversible causes, and post-arrest care principles. It states plainly what it is — a theory update, not a certification. Valid resuscitation certification requires supervised practical skills assessment, and this course is designed to serve as pre-work for a blended programme or as a knowledge refresh between certifications.
Why this program
Updated to current international guidance
Explicitly a theory update, not a certification
Designed as blended-learning pre-work
Covers the reasoning, not only the algorithm
Who it is for
Program objectives
- Recognise cardiac arrest and initiate the chain of survival
- Describe the parameters that define high-quality chest compression
- Explain ventilation approaches and their place in the sequence
- Describe safe defibrillation practice
- Identify the reversible causes of arrest and their recognition
- Describe the principles of post-arrest care
Learning outcomes
- Identify cardiac arrest from a described presentation
- Describe correct compression rate, depth, recoil and interruption limits
- Sequence the actions of the adult resuscitation algorithm
- Apply defibrillation safety checks to a described scenario
- Identify likely reversible causes from a given clinical context
- Differentiate this knowledge component from certification requirements
