Device-Associated Infection Bundles (CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP)
Small, consistent steps that prevent the most dangerous infections linked to lines, catheters and ventilators.

What is Device-Associated Infection Bundles (CLABSI, CAUTI, VAP)?
Central lines, urinary catheters and ventilators save lives, but they also create pathways for serious infections. Care bundles group a small number of evidence-based practices that, when applied together and consistently, reduce these infections. This course covers the elements of insertion and maintenance bundles for central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI), catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) and ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP), bundle compliance auditing, and surveillance basics.

Questions people ask
Are the bundle elements based on international guidance?
Yes. They reflect widely used evidence-based recommendations; always follow your organisation's current protocols.
What is all-or-none compliance?
A bundle counts as compliant only if every element was completed, which drives reliable practice.
Is VAP prevention relevant for respiratory therapists?
Yes. Respiratory therapists play a central role in ventilator care.
Does the course teach how to insert lines?
No. It covers prevention practices, not clinical procedural skills.
